Amazing China CO2 Report

Here is a decent cement-focused summary of the 2007 China CO2 Report from the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency based on the latest numbers from BP's 2006 Statistical Review of World Energy.  It confirms that China passed the U.S. in its annual CO2 emissions rate sometime in early 2006 and, only a bit more than a year later, likely exceeds US emissions by 10% - Which is equivalent to adding the emissions of The Entire West Coast of the United States in A Single Year.  This is several years earliers than prior estimates from the EIA and IEA - though, those agencies tended to assume that recent 10% annual growth rates in China were anomalous and not part of a sustained trend that is changing the world.  Note also the immense contribution from cement production which accounts for almost 10% of Chinese emissions.
